Things to do

For family days out, please click on our 'Child-Friendly' page and there are plenty of ideas - all of which we have visited with our own children and would recommend.https://www.lagruegites.com/information/child-friendly-gites/places-to-visit-with-children/

Mons has lots going on  - with our very own Cognac and Pineau producers, Laval-Aubinaud. You can buy direct from the property after a tasting session. Kathy and her Mum speak English very well too.

There's a Snail Farm, La Cagouille Charentaise. Snails are a delicacy here and are made into pate and sausages. Tours are available.http://www.escargot-cagouillecharentaise.com/

Also, a horseriding stables, Les Equi'tes de Charente with an English speaking instructor.

New for 2020, there is also an Organic, seasonal, fruit and vegetable producer just down the road in Juif - an easy walk for your fruit 'n' veg. The 10th October sees an Artisan producer market in Juif too. Exciting times!

Rouillac which is a fifteen minute drive away, boasts one of the largest markets in South-West France and offers a real treat for 'foodies'. https://www.rouillac-tourisme.fr/foire-de-rouillac/ Rouillac also boasts a fine epicerie which offers a warm welcome and a great cafe 'gourmand' at Mado&Mado https://madoandmado.com/password and an extensive wine cellar https://chai27.com/

There are also plenty of sites of historical interest close by where you can explore Roman ruins and beautiful architecture. Rouillac has Les Bouchauds, a Roman theatre.http://www.via-antiqua.org/sites-antiques/16170-saint-cybardeaux/10-site-archeologique-des-bouchauds/

The infamous, historic town of Cognac is only forty minutes away with its distillery tours and river trips along the Charente. There you can find Remy Martin, Hennessy, Camus, Mercow and Baron Otard to name but a few.

Verteuil-sur-Charente, thirty minutes away has a beautiful Chateau and is a lovely day out.
